Our Approach

Sending a child to summer camp is a tremendous act of faith by families. At Camp KIPP DC, we take that responsibility very seriously and will maintain an environment that encourages both safety and health and reinforces a positive self-image. We aim to provide campers with opportunities for emotional and physical growth, encourage their natural abilities, and instill the benefits of group living. Our ultimate goal is to provide an enjoyable, exciting summer experience that motivates our campers to approach the future with courage, confidence, and a feeling of self-worth, which we believe will ultimately build upon the greater mission of KIPP DC—to ensure students realize their potential and develop the skills they need to graduate from college, succeed in a competitive world, and serve as the next generation of leaders in our community.

At Camp KIPP DC, we take a holistic approach to achieving our mission through programs geared towards physical, emotional, and social growth and well-being. We believe an overnight summer camp experience will:

Increase students' social, emotional, and non-cognitive skills (e.g. confidence, curiosity, independence, and responsibility), which are essential to college and life success

Provide an opportunity for KIPP DC elementary and middle school campers to explore, learn, and have fun in a safe, tight-knit community
